The notorious Shoe Bomber got tried and sentenced back in January of 2003. A friend just emailed me the text of the Judge's Sentencing Commentary.
I was so startled that I'd never heard this dialogue, that I checked it out on Snopes and other Urban Legend sites. It's fact!
Why is it that the Socialist Liberal Media Establishment did not report this exceptional American's opinion more widely.
If by Posting this here, I can get one more American to read it, my effort will be rewarded...

Ruling by Judge William Young, US District Court.
Prior to sentencing, the Judge asked the defendant if he had anything to say. His response: After admitting his guilt to the court for the record, Reid also admitted his 'allegiance to Osama bin Laden, to Islam, and to the religion of Allah,' defiantly stating, 'I think I will not apologize for my actions,' and told the court 'I am at war with your country.'
Judge Young then delivered the statement quoted below:
(January 30, 2003, United States vs. Reid)
Judge Young: 'Mr. Richard C. Reid, hearken now to the sentence the Court imposes upon you.
On counts 1, 5 and 6 the Court sentences you to life in prison in the custody of the United States Attorney General. On counts 2, 3, 4 an d 7, the Court sentences you to 20 years in prison on each count, the sentence on each count to run consecutively. (ED: That's 80 years.)
On count 8 the Court sentences you to the mandatory 30 years again, to be served consecutively to the 80 years just imposed. The Court imposes upon you for each of the eight counts a fine of $250,000 that's an aggregate fine of $2 million. The Court accepts the government's recommendation with respect to restitution and orders restitution in the amount of $298.17 to Andre Bousquet and $5,784 to American Airlines.
The Court imposes upon you an $800 special assessment. The Court imposes upon you five years supervised release simply because the law requires it. But the life sentences are real life sentences so I need go no further.
This is the sentence that is provided for by our statutes. It is a fair and just sentence. It is a righteous sentence.
Now, let me explain this to you. We are not afraid of you or any of your terrorist co-conspirators, Mr. Reid. We are Americans. We have been through the fire before. There is too much war talk here and I say that to everyone with the utmost respect. Here in this court, we deal with individuals as individuals and care for individuals as individuals. As human beings, we reach out for justice.
You are not an enemy combatant. You are a terrorist. You are not a soldier in any war. You are a terrorist. To give you that reference, to call you a soldier, gives you far too much stature. Whether the officers of government do it or your attorney does it, or if you think you are a soldier, you are not----- you are a terrorist. And we do not negotiate with terrorists. We do not meet with terrorists. We do not sign documents with terrorists. We hunt them down one by one and bring them to justice.
So war talk is way out of line in this court. You are a big fellow. But you are not that big. You're no warrior. I've known warriors. You are a terrorist. A species of criminal that is guilty of multiple attempted murders. In a very real sense, State Trooper Santiago had it right when you first were taken off that plane and into custody and you wondered where the press and the TV crews were, and he said: 'You're no big deal.'
You are no big deal.
What your able counsel and what the equally able United States attorneys have grappled with and what I have as honestly as I know how tried to grapple with, is why you did something so horrific. What was it that led you here to this courtroom today?
I have listened respectfully to what you have to say. And I ask you to search your heart and ask yourself what sort of unfathomable hate led you to do what you are guilty and admit you are guilty of doing? And, I have an answer for you. It may not satisfy you, but as I search this entire record, it comes as close to understanding as I know.
It seems to me you hate the one thing that to us is most precious. You hate our freedom. Our individual freedom. Our individual freedom to live as we choose, to come and go as we choose, to believe or not believe as we individually choose. Here, in this society, the very wind carries freedom.
It carries it everywhere from sea to shining sea. It is because we prize individual freedom so much that you are here in this beautiful courtroom, so that everyone can see, truly see, that justice is administered fairly, individually, and discretely. It is for freedom's sake that your lawyers are striving so vigorously on your behalf, have filed appeals, will go on in their representation of you before other judges.
We Americans are all about freedom. Because we all know that the way we treat you, Mr. Reid, is the measure of our own liberties. Make no mistake though. It is yet true that we will bear any burden; pay any price, to preserve our freedoms. Look around this courtroom. Mark it well. The world is not going to long remember what you or I say here. The day after tomorrow, it will be forgotten, but this, however, will long endure.
Here in this courtroom and courtrooms all across America , the American people will gather to see that justice, individual justice, justice, not war, individual justice is in fact being done. The very President of the United States through his officers will have to come into courtrooms and lay out evidence on which specific matters can be judged and juries of citizens will gather to sit and judge that evidence democratically, to mold and shape and refine our sense of justice.
See that flag, Mr. Reid? That's the flag of the United States of America.
That flag will fly there long after this is all forgotten. That flag stands for freedom. And it always will…
Mr. Custody Officer. Stand him down.

This Judge knows what it means to think like an American -- unlike B. Hussein Obama, a proven Marxist Socialist with definite Leninist leanings. Obama was not raised in this country where Freedom is often taken for granted. Obama is the child of Marxist Socialists, raised in those opinions and given a questionable formative education in a third world country.

Here's a quote from Nasty Pelosi, the Wicked Witch of the West talking (of course)about passing Obama's Health Care Debacle:
"You go through the gate. If the gate's closed, you go over the fence. If the fence is too high, we'll pole-vault in. If that doesn't work, we'll parachute in."
Apparently she said this some time last week, and repeated it again this week. Do you get the idea that She (at least) is obsessed with this?
She sounds a heck of a lot more like a common burgler than anything else. She sure doesn't sound like any reasonable person I know... What is it about Pelosi and Democrats -- are they incapable of understanding "No!"

I doubt that your people keep track of constituent email. I say this while considering the quality and pertinence of the answers I've received from you over the last year.
Mike: Sincerely now -- Arkansans deserve more than another mindless 'capitulation' vote for whatever cobbed-up piece of crap the Wicked Witch of the West presents for the House to vote on. Obama is just plain out of line, out of touch, and an Anti-American Uber Liberal Socialist to Boot.
Mike: 62% of Americans and way, way more than a simple majority of Arkansans think this is really bad legislation. We don't want it Mike!
Some of my greatest friends are yella dogs Mike, and they are telling me they are going to vote against Mike Ross.
Mike there is no need for an Omnibus Bill -- there is only need for continual improvement, which we can satisfy with PERTINENT SPECIFIC legislation that meets America's needs, One Issue At A Time!!!

Fishing Story...
Obama needed to relax, so he called Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid and invites them to go fishing…
They all pile aboard one of Pelosi’s husbands’ yachts, and cruise out into the Gulf Stream, looking for some big swordfish…
Obama gets the first strike – and by golly it’s that huge Great White shark that’s been decimating fishermen along the east coast for a decade…
The Great White does his thing, and sinks the boat.
Who did God save?

Text of a letter sent to the New York Times in the Spring of 2009.
The author has stated that the letter was never published nor acknowledged by the NYT.

Dear President Obama,
You are the thirteenth President under whom I have lived and unlike any of the others, you truly scare me.
You scare me because after months of exposure, I know nothing about you.
You scare me because I do not know how you paid for your expensive Ivy League education and your upscale lifestyle and housing with no visible signs of support.
You scare me because you did not spend the formative years of youth growing up in America and culturally you are not an American.
You scare me because you have never run a company or met a payroll.
You scare me because you have never had military experience, thus don't understand it at its core.
You scare me because you lack humility and "class", always blaming others.
You scare me because for over half your life you have aligned yourself with radical extremists who hate America and you refuse to publicly denounce these radicals that wish to see America fail.
You scare me because you are a cheerleader for the "blame America" crowd and deliver this message abroad.
You scare me because you want to change America to a European style country where the government sector dominates instead of the private sector.
You scare me because you want to replace our health care system with a government controlled one.
You scare me because you prefer "wind mills" to responsibly capitalizing on our own vast oil, coal, and shale reserves.
You scare me because you want to kill the American capitalist goose that lays the golden egg which provides the highest standard of living in the world.
You scare me because you have begun to use "extortion" tactics against certain banks and corporations.
You scare me because your own political party shrinks from challenging you on your wild and irresponsible spending proposals.
You scare me because you will not openly listen to or even consider opposing points of view from intelligent people.
You scare me because you falsely believe that you are both omnipotent and omniscient.
You scare me because the media gives you a free pass on everything you do.
You scare me because you demonize and want to silence the Limbaughs, Hannitys, O'Reillys, and Becks who offer opposing, conservative points of view.
You scare me because you prefer controlling over governing.
Finally, you scare me because if you serve a second term, I will probably not feel safe in writing a similar letter in 8 years.

Obama's "Health Care Summit" is history. Typically the leftist uber liberal media says that Obama came out on top and the right says the Republicans did the same.
Obama, the Magnificent, the Annointed one totally topped all previous performances in terms of Arrogance, Hubris and just downright rudeness. At least one Brit news outlet opined that Obama might deserve some sort of Academy Award -- had the entire mess not been so boring.
Question is: What exactly was accomplished? Well – not a hell of a lot!
The Republicans came out of it looking reasonable. Obama’s arrogant disdain glistened through his sarcastic rhetoric and by gosh Rude commentary.
A couple of sources indicated that Obama and the Democrats spoke for more than 230 minutes while the Republicans at the event were allowed to speak for only about 114 minutes. Of course the Great One (The Anointed One, the Obama) justified his own involvement with: 'I don't count my time because I'm the President'...
That was tacky, arrogant, crude and just plain despicable. My Momma woulda’ said: “Consider the Source Son…”
Now we await Congress. Will Obama really attempt reconciliation? We’ll find out together…
Obama is bound and determined to split the United States of America apart…

I don't know when the revelation hit me -- that I really love this Country! I think the first inklings surfaced back in the late '60s when I was in the service.
I remember listening to acquaintances trashing our President(s) of the time (Johnson, then Nixon). And they would immediately equate that with their current hatred for the United States of America. I remember on occasion saying “Wait a minute… Don’t you really mean you dislike Johnson” (or Nixon) whoever they were railing about – “…don’t you mean you hate what the current policy about” (Pick a Policy and fill in the blank) “Is” or “was”…
Late ‘60s, early ‘70s they’d inevitably toke, pass the joint and say – “Na Mannnnn! It’s the Country, It’s the fuckin’ Establishment Mannnnn! It’s the U S A!”
Point: There was a lot of that running around back then, anarchists, people who thought everything should be free. Folks that didn’t have a job, didn’t want one and expected everything for nothing. That’s when I first heard “The best things in life are free – when you rip them off The Boo Zhwaw Zee…” (Francophiles please forgive -- bourgeois).
Barack Obama would have been ten or so at the time… And of course, as we know he was registered in a Catholic School in Indonesia until about 1970 (+-). Point here? Well little Barry was not raised like Abe or Grover, Ike or Jack, Dick, Jimmy etcetera.
Obama was not raised in an environment where kids were routinely taught that they lived in the Greatest Nation on the face of the Planet! Barry didn’t know that when the National Anthem was played you placed your right hand over your heart and listened reverently.
Little Barry’s formative years were spent in Indonesia. He does not think like an American.
I’m not a Birther – Obama’s creds are the Supreme Court’s problem, not mine. I don’t give a damn – he’s the President, so just Cowboy up, accept the fact, and drive this Anti American Marxist Socialist back to Chicago where he can help his ACORN buddies strain the ashes of their latest defeat.
Folks at the office used to say “Hey Arp, what do you Really Think?”
Well, if I ever update this space again, maybe I’ll let everybody in on my thought processes! “Bucket of Worms” ring a bell?
